Fire season is just around the corner, and managed grazing offers an elegant system that builds soil health and resilience to wildfires. Join Bell Valley as we welcome two leading managed grazing practitioners, Ruthie King and Richard King for a two-day workshop on Grazing for Soil Health. This workshop will explore opportunities to invest in the resilience of land, using livestock as a vehicle for soil-building.Learn how planned grazing and monitoring can build drought and fire resilience, biodiversity, soil carbon and increase rainfall effectiveness. Witness firsthand a flock of sheep grazing for fuel reduction and soil-building at this beautiful retreat center in the hills of Anderson Valley. Both days of learning will be spent outdoors. Come learn about how our land stewardship work has yielded useful building material in the form of carbon-stable, Douglas fir poles, and learn what to do with them! Round fir poles are much stronger and resilient per board foot than milled dimensional lumber. Join Amy DeLong-Martin to “Gather in Beauty” at the 3rd annual Pilates and Wellness Retreat at Bell Valley. In these gorgeous surroundings and comfortable accommodations, we will playfully stretch our body, mind and spirit while enjoying the collective camaraderie that inevitably ensues.
Paul Bogle offers creative and inspirational activities as co-facilitator, complementing Amy’s masterful and engaging movement offerings. Dinnertime caps off the days with delicious and healthy feasts for the senses, eating and sharing together in the historic Toll House.
